We accomplished quite a bit Wednesday night and had some great fun while we were at it.

Kaine levelled up!

Trent started a new character, and discovered that Ace was not all that bad of a character after all. My apologies to Trent but I can't remember the name he gave to his new character.

Trent wanted to make the origin of the new character random, and we left his origins to the dice. The new character was a shepherd in Hibernia who was captured by Scandian raiders and sold into slavery. He was bright, if uneducated, and was eventually noticed and bought by our Lady Harriet.

Harriet, ever generous, paid for teaching him to read and write, and took him adventuring. The poor lad died twice but, thanks to the kind cleric of Neptune Carantus, still managed to return to Neopolis!

In Neopolis he was to find that without money or other resources no magic users was willing to take him on as an apprentice. I'm sure if he persists he will accumulate the resources to attract a mage to sponsor and train him.

The trip to the blasted lands yielded enough black smoking rock to strike a deal with Mortimer to arrange for a seeking out of the lair of Osirotep. Mortimer will do anything to acquire black smoking rock! The dice will determine his degree of success and the rapidity of the result. Stay tuned!

Hope to see you all Saturday afternoon!

The party ventured to the Blasted Lands again Saturday of Mega Meetup 28. They were sent there by Uriah the Mage to fetch back a baseball sized chunk of black smoking rock! The stalwart adventurers Harriet, Carantus, Ace, and Kaine took two new characters along with on their adventure. They found the black smoking rock guarded by some very large and unpleasant creatures! The party managed to defeat them, and find some black smoking rock for themselves as well as Uriah! The party then did some horse trading with Mortimer and company, and obtained some very nice goodies!

Mortimer and Pavoratti were able to gain some clues to the location of Osirotep. They shared them with the party. Anyone interested in the clues can ask me via Neopolisnotes and I will repeat them.

The game Saturday was a big one!

Chris, Brian, Trent, Jack, Allen, & Leonard were there. We were also glad to see that Bert and old timer Dorian were there!

Led by Dorian's character, Dramond, the party resisted the siren call of the blasted lands and ventured into the Swamp. There they found treasure and adventure near Igor's Tower.

A large cache of human bones was found along with a pentagram portal leading to an unknown destination.

The destruction of the pentagram led to the arrival of some very nasty iron golems!

The party dispatched the golems and found some nice treasure.

The adventure was cut short when Leonard's Nemedian fighter had to be raised. The return to town and Leon the Hermit's skills brought him back and 3 players leveled up!

Mortimer wheeled and dealed with the post adventure treasure.

Dorian decided to convert Dramond to a paladin!

Who knows what will happen next? We will find out next Wednesday night!

Wednesday night's game was a big one and a lot of fun!

Three first level characters were started, including a paladin!

The party ventured into the blasted lands, and found some black smoking rock!

They also found some nasty critters who put up a fight!

Casualties were high, and, though none of the players characters were left on the field, several points of constitution were lost.

I'm wondering if the old "first hog to the trough" combat style is appropriate?

Ron seems to think that some planning and organization within the party might reduce losses?

What do the players think? Can the players suppress their greed glands and organize?

See you all on Saturday!

What a game!

The party followed a pentagram "gate" from the abandoned chambers of Thag and the late Thak to an ancient tomb in the escarpment!

There they dealt with some pretty tough fighters and found a lot of very nice treasure!

When they explored the ancient tomb they found and rescued a decrepit mage named Suthaze from a prison made of a giant clay jar. They don't know how long he was confined there, and neither does Suthaze.

The party returned the grateful Suthaze to Neopolis and to his former chambers in the Mage's Guild.

Unfortunately Ron started a new paladin, but did not do a good job as a player of a paladin character. The paladin stood by as a bound prisoner was tortured, and offered to leave the room so he would not "see" further interrogation.

Sigh, here we go again, another wink, wink, nudge, nudge, "know what I mean" sleazy paladin.

A paladin is not a fighter with great perks. A paladin is a holy warrior for the causes of law and good. No mater how clever the argument, or how persistently the player argues, that is not what is expected of a paladin in Neopolis. I suppose this might be stretched to be called a special rule, so there it is.

What's next? We'll see Wednesday night!

What a run! We had some great role play then some serious battle action. More gold than goodies in the bag at the end, but everyone needs gold!

BrianT's character went up a level!

The new and female characters started recently by Dean and Chris certainly developed personalities of their very own. Ask the players for more details.

Dean's Rosie the Cleric proved she was Khepher's kin when she neutralized a portal pentagram with her holy symbol of Neptune! she was lucky that the pentagram failed it's saving throw. Otherwise it would have been her holy symbol that fried like a chitlin.

Ron's paladin played a good game. It was a smooth game, too. Thanks, Ron.

Bert was the idea man this session, good job for Bert and Shamus!

When I left, John was rolling up a new character! See you Saturday John.

Where was the Toe Cutter? We missed him!

The party sure could have used Harriet to seek out some trail! We miss you Victoria!

We're all looking forward to Buzz and Cathy starting their new characters Saturday afternoon!

What's next? It is up the players. See you Saturday afternoon!

Saturday, February 7th saw ten players enter the city of Neopolis.

THE TASK: —————-
Leon sent us to find and return 10 desecrated bodies and a golden incense
burner from a violated tomb marked with the names Bertos & Thamos.
His sidekick Molle, who discovered the crime, wasn’t much help with the
details or directions.

THE EVENTS: —————-
We located the breech and tracked down the 10 boat-rowing robbers,
henchmen of Thag, back in a bar in Neopolis. Wanting nothing messy to
happen in town, Ace and fellow Scandians got them drunk, then stripped
them. A little coin later, the barkeep called the Citadel Guard to
jail them for lewd and lascivious.

Bones and burner were returned to Leon who gave each us 1200 gold and
his thanks.

Some confidential info prompted us to investigate a Pink Temple. We
worked our way past a secret, poisoned door. And, a little Infravision
later, we fought a big nasty named Yack. Gengis takes a 1-shot for
the team, while Harriet and others finish off the mercenary for Thag.
Gengis is revived.

Found a set of strange items which, after Leon threatened to destroy
them, were given to ZamZam at the Magic Users Guild to research. He
said it seems we have all pieces except something called a “frame”.

Also found a leather book with a skull insignia, which was given to
Leon who destroyed it. Speaking of skulls, we obtained a skull
locket… did we put that in the bag of holding or did Leon get rid of
that too?

OTHER HAPPENINGS: —————-
Soothase, we find, doesn’t need nor want gold. In fact he will make
some for you. He is, however, interested in magical items (except
those relating to Necromancy) and was in a trading mood.

Shamus trades a Belt of AC0 for a Short Sword +4.

Ace trades a +2 Int item for a Ring of Invisibility (which we had him
waste, along with an attempted backstab, in the Pink Temple).

Mortamer is still only looking for Smoking Black Rock, don’t bother me
otherwise he says.

Cuthbert and The Temple of the Way, we discover, is devoted to helping
orphans in a big way.

Shamus was lucky enough to be the recipient of the big haul item, a
set of common Plate Mail, which he promptly sold for ~ $110,000.
Obviously very rare.

Although swinging several times, Dane couldn’t buy a “To-Hit”… but
he didn’t get hit either :)

Osirotep’s name was whispered again.

WHATS NEXT: —————-
We need to find that “frame”. Could it be in the swamp?!

Both games were a hoot. I know I had a lot of fun.

I'm pressed for time, and hope one of the players will record the details of both games!

See you all Wednesday night!

Saturday's session entertained a small productive group of adventurers including: Caranthus, Harriett, Dane and Krynn.

We received an invitation and attended a special party at the Aulden Arrow Bar with the Scandians. Ragnar, Flokey (head of the Nose Ring Gang), and Renga (he recently looked younger, but now appears to be very old....Caranthus privately offers help to Renga). Eight of the Scandians were killed and the party was a precursor to the actual funeral. We were invited by Ragnar to attend the funeral and walked to the pier singing songs with the group. Tonka the Bear (who really looks like a bear) carried Thor's Oath Ring on a staff in the procession. A ship with the 8 dead men and their belongings was torched and set to sea where it sank. Not much information was shared by the Scandians so we departed to speak to Leon in the Temple of Mitra.

Leon asked the group to travel to the Battle of Barbosa, 6 days from Neopolis, to retrieve the helm of Leonitus, slain hero of the Temple of Mitra. The group accepted this challenge and traveled by carpet, viewing Beastmen heading towards the Battle area. After a refreshing, uneventful night with Igor, the group paid it respects and began traveling again, stopping at a nearby bridge where peering eyes from the muddy waters caught our attention. Caranthus quickly investigated and before long a large toad was upon him with another one not very far behind. Both large toads were destroyed and the carpet flew once more, this time ending at the Battle of Barbosa open area. We detected a large mound that we determined to be the resting place of Leonitus and his brave men. Rocks were turned, bones discovered, and Caranthus detected 4 magical items located deep in the hill and marked their locations.

It wasn't long after arriving that an evil shadowy super specter appeared with a menacing sword and the group successfully defeated it. One-eyed bats, spying for Osirotep, were discovered and killed several times thanks to the keen eye of Caranthus. After tracking cloven hoof prints in the dirt, four Beastmen appeared and not long after another four encircled the group. At one point, Krynn had 4 of the Beastmen attacking her, but alas, the hairy men didn't always have good aim. After a long victorious battle, the Beastmen were all defeated, including their leader with the bad axe (I said axe, not the other word). Suddenly, a mysterious blue bolt appeared moving across the grass and touched the lead Beastman, bringing it to life. After another round of hits, the lead axe man was dead. Caranthus located the source of the blue bolt and began digging to uncover a gold statue that he placed in a jar of stasis.

The group attempted to rest in their fortress, but Dane was attacked by a blood sucking purple demon carrying an ankle bracelet with a special stone, never seen before by the group. Again, the evil demon was destroyed but in the melee, Dane and Krynn looked at the stone and went into a trance. Caranthus cast spells to neutralize the mesmerize spells.

Harriett did the digging in the mound and suddenly a left-handed undead arose from the dirt carrying another sword with special markings. We were able to destroy the skull man and after wards discovered that the two swords carried by the demons were actually taken from the death mound. The remaining items discovered were the magical helm (4 equal plates of silver plated with gold with a lion crest), a gold ring with a pearl, a pair of boots (climbing), a gold medallion.

The group secretly arrived in Neopolis after another stop at Igor's and immediately proceeded to Leon to present the spoils of the journey. Leon rewarded the group by presenting Krynn with the helm and a gold lion figurine, Caranthus with the boots of climbing, Harriett with the ring of healing +50, and the Dane received the medallion with 20+ healing and a gold lion figurine.

The group presented the evil swords and gold statue to Zam Zam where the swords were destroyed and the gold plating was melted from the statue. Zam Zam kept the inner statue after all evil was cleansed. The gold and plate armor retrieved from the skull creature was sold after they were also cleansed and the GP was divided among the 4 jubilant travelers.

Krynn and Dave leveled up.

This is to the best of my recollection, Krynn.
