Wednesday night (2/18) action for the Neopolis group was at Chris' apartment (Kepher, Krynn, Dane, Ace the Toe Cutter, Shamus, and A'liana). There was a lot of time spent visiting with leaders of the temples asking questions.

The group learned of 3 young men recently killed and left floating in the bay (many dead bodies have been floating in the bay recently and their organs are missing). One of the young men was the nephew of Philo and we learned the boys were last seen in the sewers beneath the Temple of the Toad. After visiting the Temple of Thantos, and learning more about the recent deaths we decided to investigate. The sewer passages were narrow, allowing only for single file searches and attacks and we walked in water half way to our knees. Kepher led the way and quickly had a large toad attacking. Because of the narrow sewer passages, it was very difficult for others to help, but 6 large toads were killed in all. In a small chamber, a pentagram was found guarded by a very large ugly blue demon. It quickly transported and we followed. Krynn saw it climb upward from the new space and everyone followed up the ladder, exiting via a hole in the top of a tomb (covered in Ancient River language). Krynn also saw the blue demon disappear into thin air off in the distance. The pentagrams were destroyed.

Everyone still wanted more action and visited Demeter of the Dimension Door at the Guild of Magic Users in Neopolis. From there we were transported into thick rain forests to fight (and kill) a T-Rex and a Stegosaurus. Kepher was swallowed by each of the dinosaurs and fought from within, getting max damage!! It was a sight to behold as he bravely inflicted damage as he was being swallowed alive.

Dane and Krynn leveled, but I'm not sure if anyone else did. I do know that the evening was a success and A'liana (Chris) was a gracious host. He received a ring of healing +20. Ace the Toe Cutter loaned Krynn a two-handed mace +4. BTW, NEVER ENTER THE TEMPLE OF THE TOAD.....this was repeated numerous times!

We started off with a visit to Waddi Waffin to ask for his interpretation of the rubbing from the stone at the Battle of Barbosa. While he was reviewing the rubbing, the group decided to visit the tomb where we saw the other ancient valley writings so both sets of rubbing could be compared and deciphered. While there, the group killed a large green evil creature and one of it's smaller ones. Three of the green babies were captured and placed in the jar of stasis. The rubbings were taken by Krynn before nightfall. During the night, the group was suprised by a large skull creature that was killed by Kepher,Dan and Kaine. We collected a collar from around the neck with a large gem. Kepher, Krynn awake Dane when they hear a voice and see a glowing outside the tower. A ghost appears and ages A'liana 20 years, Dane ages 40 years and Krynn ages 10. Shamus and Kaine are placed in magic jars before it was killed by Kepher and Krynn. Another object glows from a distance and A'liana runs to attack with Ace quickly behind. It casts a ball of fire and kills Ace and A'liana. The wizard is eventually killed. Three sturges attack 3rd watch and Kepher kills 2 of them with Krynn killing the last.

The group returns to the city invisible and goes to Leon for aid to our 4 fallen members. Ace donates his gold lion figurine to save A'liana and Krynn donates hers to save Ace. In return Ace gives Krynn his 2H mace that he loaned her. Leon eventually cures Shamus, Kaine, Ace, and A'liana. Dane, Krynn, and A'liana spend an extra night with Leon to get their age restored.

Waddi Waffin tells the group that the rubbings are from the book of the dead and the Battle of Barbosa stone rubbing was 500 years newer. We also found out that Thac was at the Magic Guild a week ago looking for his brother's body.

Mortimer helps the group through a Death Gate which the Scandians have not dared to enter. The group lands in a cave and a stone creature comes close to Ace but leaves without anyone detecting him. The group tries to leave the cave but is attacked by a large hairy creature that claws and bites. It was killed with a big help from Ace the Toe Cutter who put 56 point of damage with his invisible back stabbing technique! We find a treasure chest, daggar, bracers, and a scroll tube of stasis...and 8 Smoking Black Rock.

Outside the cave we encounter 11 Zulu's and Kepher yells "kowabunga" and attacks. We stun them all and collect 2 more pieces of Smoking Black Rock. We see a meteorite land nearby and quickly go to investigate. We find 2 more pieces of Smoking Black Rock before being attacked by a large snake creature. Krynn was bit but survives and the group kills the snake. We looked over frog mountain and headed back to the caves to leave.

Another attack comes. This time from a horned creature as A'liana yells out, "he's not good....he's got horns!". IT goes after Kepher alone as the group surrounds them. Kepher gets 1600 XP for defeating the horned creature. The group also retrieves a daggar, 1/2 plate armor, another sword and Kepher digs out a large diamond from the horned creature's "axe". Better him than any of us.

Sat 2/28 Action (previous post from Wed 2/25)

Attending: Nate, Carantus, Kaine, Dane, and Krynn

Dane & Krynn seeks an audience with Pinky at Cornvan's house and learn much about the Ratmen in Neopolis and in their world. They learn about a human escapee from the Ratmen called Ratso and visit him at the Temple of Asklepios. Cornvan rescued Ratso from the Rat world during a treasure hunt. It never gets dark in the Rat world and they have 2 suns.

Suddenly there is a loud disturbance outside the Temple of Netune. The group quickly assembles and goes to the Temple of Thantos where chanting is heard below ground: "vengeance.. ..vengeance. ..." An undead skeleton is quickly killed by Carantus. After checking out the sewers to no avail, the group sees Philo, and then goes to the Department of streets and sanitation to find out what's beneath the sewers. Claudios the Fool eventually shows the group an area below the Temple of Neptune where they have patched the walls because of cave ins. The area behind the patch is hollow so the group enters after Claudios leaves.

A large area with a spiral staircase leading to a boarded up store front in the Citadel district, and a crude statue as a focal point is found....the God of Hate/Vengeance. Carantus carves a heart on the statue, writes something about toads on the wall, and places Dillon the cockroach under the statue while we sleep to gather information. That night the same type of disturbance occurs. We go the next afternoon and Krynn takes a 1200 pound stone and Ace's invisibility ring and hides in the old store front. The rest of the group hides below in the secret sewer opening to the cavern. Once all of the attendees are down the spiral staircase and the chanting is at its peak, Krynn places the stone over the trap door to hold everyone in place and joins the rest of the group.

At the height of the chanting, 4 people are touched by a blue stream of energy from the alter and main bad guy, and the group enters into battle. Kaine destroys the altar and the energy stops. The 4 baddies are killed and the guards take the rest of the people to jail. They are bailed from jail from someone from the Temple of Yezud (Spider Temple). Kaine wants to see Mortimer and learns of a large blue creature near the escarpment. Of course the group wants to find it!

On the way the group kills 3 trolls (Ace gets attacked by one behind a tomb) and Carantus cuts one finger from each and then places them in his jar of stasis so they don't regenerate. We arrive at the escarpment and are quickly attacked by a Ratman with a poison sword (too bad for Kaine!), another Ratman, and then a very large Rat Ogre. All are eventually killed before the large blue ogre appears. It leaps into the air as Carantus and Ace follow after. Krynn hits it with one of her arrows and Dane hits it with his sling.

Just as the blue ogre turns into gas....the security guard shows up and snaps us into reality. Time flies with Nate and his wonderful story telling and the good battles.

3/4 Wed Session at Chris' Place

Attending: Nate, Dane, Krynn, Carantus, Kepher, Ace the Toe Cutter, Shamus, Krynn, and a guest, Jason.

Lott collected: 11,000 GP each, star sapphire ring (AC0), funny hat, flint dagger+7/brittle, simple gold ring (of necromancy), archaic gold coin, golden box w/ivory trim and a emerald inside, gold cord, amber gem (periapt of neutralize poison)

As a continuation of Saturday's session, we searched all 6 chambers/tombs on the top of the escarpment. An apparently empty 5 mile deep well is discovered, and in another chamber, scarabs chomped pretty hard on Dane and Krynn. They are finally killed by Krynn, Kepher, Dane and Ace (Krynn gets burned and Dane gets hit by a sling in the process) but everyone survives the long chamber search. Trap doors are found in other chambers along with rings, a treasure box, and the other loot listed above. Ace was the brave soul who finds the chest and brings it from a narrow passage, only to cut the gold cord around a pile of bones, bringing the creature to life! 1500 xp went to Carantus, Kepher, Shamus and Ace (Krynn and Dane just couldn't get a good roll).

The group decides to go back through the longest corrider because a sign was seen earlier (and the ancient valley is translated by Ace) that said "ABANDON HOPE ALL YE WHO ENTER HERE". Carantus detects big time evil on the R side of the corridor and Kepher breaks through the wall, only to find an Iron Golum. Kepher is the only one to see it at this point and he can be heard shouting, "oh, shit" quite loudly. The Iron Giant spews a cloud at Kepher and the fighting begins. Eventually the Iron Golum is killed and 1500 xp is handed out to all with hits.

Soon after Kepher leads the group into a chamber with an alter of the horned one, two poles surrounded by skulls & horns, 2 large urns and 1 smaller urn. Carantus says prayer just in time... because Kepher boldly goes beyond a definite red line that wasn't to be crossed. A giant centipede (props to Nate for all these cool creatures!!! ) appears and promptly bites Kepher with poison. Shamus gets into the action this time with a really big hit.. 850 xp went to each of us.

Krynn (18/87 strength) opens the small urn and finds a lot of gold alter items. The first of the two large urns had a large scorpion with more poison that hits Kepher and Shamus, causing them to pass out. Ace, Carnatus, Dane and Krynn finally kill it for 250 xp each. The last urn appears to be empty, but is full of gas that smells similar to incindiary oil. Ace and Kepher get a wild hair and decide to drop it in the well so it can explode! Well, it did burn, right along with some smoking black rock, incense, and other undisclosed treasure.

What a night!!! It's not often you see Kepher passed out. BTW, Ace the Toe Cutter let Krynn borrow his sling so she could finally get some xp for the night. Dane recovered from his sling blow to the back of his head. Shamus wakes up from passing out and is ready to head to the city. Ace got some awesome hits in for the night. Caranus told the blue ogre exactly how he felt about him and cast some new and exciting spells. Krynn gets another weapon for her collection (she hopes to be a very powerful fighter one day)..

3/7/09 Neopolis Session
Attending: Krynn, Dane, Kaine, Genghiss the Deceased, Lemar (Trent's new cleric), and A'liana.

Loot: 6,000 GP each, ruby of animation, 2H sword +4, crown of AC0, Golden Skull (1st casting in gold of Vark the Slayer), gold chain w/blue sapphire +1 intelligence for a cast/day, 6 bags of gold, 6 books, topaz gem sacred to Vark the Slayer, 2H axe +3, 2H sword +4, and a helm w/lion AC0.

After an hour of visiting NPCs and waiting for Lemar to finish laundry and dirty dishes, the group sees Rafsu to deliver a bale of documents and items to be identified and deciphered. Rafsu tells the group about the Abode of the Vile Ones, a 7 day ride from the city. Many slaves were freed there bt very little gold was ever found. He suggests we see Carnac in the Granery District to learn more. Carnac sells us a skull antiquity that has carvings on the bottom....it looks like it might be a key for our adventure.

The group sets out for the Temple of the Vile and quickly fight goblins. Genghiss kills one Goblin and the other 3 flees to the mangroves. A'liana finds 29 healing lillies. Krynn moves a rock and the antiquity from Carnac fits into an open slot, opening a secret door on top of the mound. Dane find an open chamber behind a secret door. Krynn detects a secret door on one wall of the chamber and Ghengass opens it.

The group sees a large pile of bones, an alter w/skulls, a statue standing on a large ring with symbols, and a non-moving wizard in one corner with a skull on a pedistal in the other corner. Before long, the wizard comes to life and brings skeleton creatures alive near the pile of bones. Krynn kills 3 skeletons, Dane kills 2 and Lemar kills 10!!!!! The corner wizard is finally killed by Krynn, Kaine, and Dane. The middle status comes to life and is killed by Krynn, Dane, and Kaine. Suddenly a trap door on the altar opens and a large bony creature starts attacking us. Dane gets max hits, Kaine, and A'liana get the XP for putting this one down. Kaine got some good hits for the day.

On the other hand, poor Genghiss could not get a hit and was finally killed by the large bony creature from the altar. In his last breath, he requests to be left behind. Krynn takes a rubbing of the stones that the statue was on before they leave. The group also takes the key from outside the temple to seal it once again. We head for the city, staying a night at Igors. Dane buys a loyal servant, Ogbama.

3/10/09 Session

Attending: Nate, Dane, A'liana, Lemar, Shamus, Kepher, and Krynn

Loot: 3500 GP each, long sword +4, ring AC4, broadsword +5, bone ring that animates undead, dagger +3, nice lock picks +10%, and golden book of Thoth (evil to raise undead).

Adventure: We spent an hour in the city visiting NPCs and trying to decide where to venture. Kepher did pick up 20 healing potions from his source and was generous by providing everyone in the party two each. The group decided to walk through the Necropolis and stop for lunch. While eating around the campfire, the group was attacked by 9 hooded thugs and one very large sword wielding warrior. Kepher killed 3, Lemar 1, Shamus 3, and Krynn 2. A'liana and Dane couldn't get any XP here. Kepher picks up a ring off the large warrior and it made him an AC4 :(

We fly to the escarpment in a dark night and see tracks to one of the doors we searched on our last visit. There we find a budda looking creature that Dane, Kepher, and Lemar kill. Shamus gets in a really good hit with his sling....but he attacks Krynn and she loses 3 HP. From the escarpment we travel west and see a hold in the rock with white threads across the top. We lower Kepher down first with his web-proof ring and he clears the way as Krynn lowers others down. Kepher quickly encounters a large brown spider (dad) and gets 3000 XP. We find 2 bodies spun in silk and take their goodies. Kepher and Shamus are the only ones who could get to the purple spider (mom) and each get 1500 XP. Kepher kills the baby brown spider and dgets 1000 XP.

A secret chamber is found and a bony creature attacks the group. Krynn, Kepher, Lemar, and Shamus each take a wack for 1000 XP. Krynn copies the writing off the wall onto papyrus paper and eventually takes to Rafsu for deciphering. The group returns to the city safely and sees Zam Zam to identify the loot. Kepher gets robbed in his hotel room with the window and loses one of his rings.

No ring of florentine for Krynn.....
