YHTMEOYP (You have too many edits on your post): We are now at 5 players and 1 opening. Rock! Edit 3 - This Time It's For Money: We have 4 players and 2 openings. I have started an obsidian portal site. I messaged Dean about being added to the docket for this Saturday and haven't heard of any issues so we should be ready to roll (dice?) this Saturday at 10:30! Edit 2: Three players have confirmed. I will still hold a tentative spot for one (or both) of the remaining crew at the Friendly Griffon Inquisitive Agency for the next couple of days since I haven't heard back from them as of yet. That leaves us with 1-3 potential openings. While I dearly love the Planescape setting, I recognize that it may not work for the full spectrum of play types. Therefore, I am planning on running Night's Dark Terror as long as there are no objections. Edit 1: So far we have two players confirmed. I have two other slots tentatively held for members of Sharn Confidential who are not also part of Candletown until I hear back from them. Jon may have another player or two to bring with him. I am aiming for around 6 players--so if you are interested in a 4e game let me know ASAP. After a long hiatus I have recently returned to gaming via Jacob's excellent Sharn Confidential game. Playing in that game has gotten me interested in possibly picking-up DM-ing again during alternating Saturday Mega-Meetups. I've always got a ton of ideas going through my head--here Night's Dark Terror Forgotten Realms A group of young heroes set out with a task that is simple enough--ensure the safe delivery of a shipment of goods to the homestead of a settled Uthgardt clan. The heroes soon find themselves embroiled in multiple plots--a race against a group of slavers to find the hidden city of a lost people, the rescue of a kidnapped friend, defending towns against the attacks of newly active goblin tribes or unlocking the secrets of the Isle of Lost Dreams. The beginning of this game would be significantly influenced by the (IMO) best of the basic D&D modules and set in a modified version of the Gray Vale from the FR Players' and Campaign Guides. I would envision this campaign as being the most 'sandbox'-ish of the three ideas with the majority of the direction after the first two-to-three sessions being player driven. Planescape (A mix of the 2e & 4e versions) You are currently staying at the manor of a local lord. You could be a part of the family, a visting friend, a servant or a wandering veteran of the Nerath Wars. While investigating mysterious events at the manor, you pass through a portal to Sigil, the City of Doors. In this metropolis one can go anywhere in the known multiverse--provided he or she can find the portal and the proper key to unlock it. Angels playing chess with Demons, or wise-cracking flying flaming skulls would not be uncommon sights in the City of Doors. Can you find your way home? Do you even want to? Perhaps the journey to Sigil *is* the trip home for you... The Mark of Prophecy Eberron You meet at a lonely tower on the outskirts of one of the fiercest battles of the Last War. Some come to explore ancient prophecies, some to rescue a captured comrade and investigate rumors of terrorist activity. On that date an entire nation will die in an event known only as the Mourning. Four years later, you reunite to face the lingering effects of that day. The hunt for ancient artifacts... the uncovering of sinister blood cults... the discovery of nefarious conspiracies... exploration of ruins on the 'lost' continent of Xen'drik... fighting on top of elementally-powered trains... all of these ensue in world combining D&D fantasy with Indiana Jones-style pulp action, Chinatown-ish intrigue and hints of Lovecraftian horror. Shoot me an e-mail, reply in-thread or give me a shout at the next Mega-Meetup if any of these ideas sounds interesting to you. There are plenty of other campaigns or games I would be interested in running/playing too if you have any other ideas. Edited by Justin on Oct 22, 2009 8:12 PM |

I heartily endorse this idea. Anyone reading this who isn't yet in a game should get in touch with Justin ASAP, because I think his game is going to be a hell of a lot of fun.

I do know that Nick is about to start his table over with a new Eberron campaign next week. If you're shooting to provide an alternative you might go with one of the other settings. On the other hand, his table is probably just about full so it seems like people can't get enough of it. Who knows, there might be room for 3 Eberron tables at the meetup!

I'd be up for any of those options. I'm a little more familiar with the Forgotten Realms setting than the other two, but I am by no means opposed to Eberron or Planescape.

I'd be up for any of those options. I'm a little more familiar with the Forgotten Realms setting than the other two, but I am by no means opposed to Eberron or Planescape. Depending on what I hear back from the other people I have contacted we will hopefully have a general consensus in he next couple of days. As long as we've got at least two players I will plan on beginning next Saturday and will put together a wiki on Obsidian Portal. In the meantime, if you want to learn more about Eberron there is an excellent thread at the penny arcade forums. Unfamiliarity with Planescape is a non-issue as I would not foresee more than one of the PCs knowing about it prior to the end of the first session, but you can probably find a nice overview of the old version of the setting at planewalker.com. |

Justin,
You might want to add your game to the list on the calendar. If you do, let one of the Asst organizers know, so he can add it. Have fun! Nate |

I had e-mailed Dean about adding the game to the calendar, but have not heard back. I guess I will try and pester one of the assistant organizers instead!

I added your game to the list of games for the megameetup 10/24. Until Dean makes you an assistant organizer I'll add whatever you want. You have to tell me what you want to say and where.
See you Saturday afternoon! |
