As some of you may have noticed at TactiCon, I was involved with the LFR organization. This was sort of a trial run for me. Lenny has asked me to consider taking over the LFR for Genghis as he will be moving on to a position of more responsibility at that point.

One of my responsibilities will include recruiting and organizing DMs. Lenny's wanting 10 tables of LFR to run for every slot at Genghis. One of the ways he suggested doing this is to run special games for DMs who are willing to commit to running stuff at conventions. With that in mind, I'll be running some games over the next few months for people who will commit to running LFR at Genghis Con in February.

There are benefits to running games at conventions. Here are a few:

1. For every slot you DM, you get a player slot free.
2. A piece of schwag at the end of the convention. This last time there were gift cards to game stores, dice, dungeon tiles, T-shirts and various non-LFR adventures, books & paraphernalia. The more you DM, the better the schwag.
3. LFR Player Cards. For the past two conventions there was:
Furious Evocation
Lucky Shot
Bladeling Creation.
4. The next convention cycle will include 3 new player cards. Info on them as soon as I find it.

This doesn't include the undying gratitude of players and convention organizers, which is boundless.

Linda,

I would love to DM at Genghis, it will certainly help prepare me for GenCon next year. That being said, Valentines day weekend will probably be a pretty tough sell for the wife, and I can't blame her. I will try to clear this weekend up with my wife and let you know.

Getting out of Valentine's Day is really easy, guys. This is not a difficult concept, but since so many guys have a hard time with it, I'll use small words and go slowly.

1. Treat your wife/girlfriend like a princess during the other 51 weeks of the year.

2. Promise to do up something special the weekend before.

2a. Follow through on your promise.

3. Give her special time on her own. Send her to a day spa. Remind her that it's been a while since she's had a night out with the girls. Give her a gift certificate to her favorite store... for no reason!

4. Remember your anniversary and her birthday.

Valentine's Day is a totally artificial holiday, created by Hallmark Corporation (the same people that bring you Mother's Day and Father's Day). If you let your wife/girlfriend know how much you love her on every other day of the year, you won't be quite so tied down to February 14th. Give her chocolates, just because it's Tuesday. It's raining? How about some roses? Go out for a night on the town just because you want to.

You'll find that if you do this stuff during the rest of the year, that reservations are easier to get, roses and chocolate are less expensive and, all in all, it's much easier to get what you want because she's getting what she wants.

Good luck!

Linda,

Talked to my wife last night, she has no problems with me DMing. I would prob want to run the 7-10 slots (maybe 4 games I would guess), but would be willing to DM all other slots.

Just curious, how far in advance we would get the materials as I like to make my own minis.

Thanks Matthew! I'll add you to my list. I don't have a lot of details just yet, but some of them should be coming along pretty soon.
