When: October 17, 2009 12:00 PM

Price: $8.00 per person

Erik's Condo in Boulder

DM: Erik

The first 4e Meetup adventure fundraiser!

1. The cost is $8. $3 for dinner & drinks, while $5 will be for the Meetup's yearly cost.

2. This is a 7-9 hour adventure, so I will have dinner for us (probably lasagna or pizza and a salad)

3. SPEC 1-1 begins the Zhent Quest, so you can unlock the Adventures following this storyline.

Shades of the Zhentarim
SPEC 1-1 (RPGA#5726) - two round Core Special Adventure by Shawn Merwin & M. Sean Molley. For characters of levels 1 to 4.

Zhentil Keep is a city with a storied history, even if most of the tale is not fit for innocent ears. A mission to find the wayward son of a wealthy merchant leads deep into the secrets, deceptions, and brutal power on which the dreaded Zhentarim built their ominous keep.

Set in Zhentil Keep in the lands of the Moonsea (FRCG p.150-151). The adventure has reward caps of 1200xp, 180gp, +50gp at Low Tier and 1650xp, 240gp, +75gp at High Tier.
Start of the "Ruins of Zhentil Keep" major quest, which concludes in "Zhent's Ancient Shadow" (SPEC 1-2). Contains an opportunity for Zhentarim Infiltration. Premiered at Gen Con Indy, Gen Con UK and PAX in August 2008. Available at selected conventions from September 2008 to October 2008, then released for general play in January 2009.

This will take place at my condo in North Boulder near Diagonal (119).

You can PAYPAL the money to this site or bring cash (can you believe Meetup charges us for each transaction?!?). Just note a comment to DiceWrangler that the donation is for this site.

Expect a long adventure (11 encounters!) with lots of combat and a dinner all in the name of our great MEETUP site!

This is going to a long adventure -- I am guessing 9-10 hours total! -- so everyone should arrive rested and ready to go. Assuming that estimate is reasonably accurate expect to finish sometime after 9pm. When this adventure is run at conventions in back-to-back 4-hour slots very few parties ever finish it due to time limits. We are not really restricted on time so we have no excuse to not finish it and I want to see how it is supposed to end.

What does our party composition look like?

* 4th level Paladin (Mathew/SirCucumber; primary Defender)

* 4th level Tempest Fighter (me; secondary Defender)

* 4th level Melee Ranger (Casey; melee Striker)

* 3rd(?) level Shaman (Linda; Leader)

* 1st(?) level Bard (Ron/Dr. Halloween; Leader)

* ? ? (Maximilian; ?)

Ideally, the 6th party member is a ranged Striker of some type but I do not know what characters Maximilian has in his "stable." We already have plenty of Defenders and Leaders. . .

I can play either Boorman Jax (3rd level Wizard) or Step Back Jack (King Jack de-leveled to 4th Bard). Looks like we have 2 leaders already, so I'll play Boorman. While he's not a ranged striker, he is focused on area attacks which do quite a bit of damage, so he's got that going for him. I'm really looking forward to it!!!

I am considering running this again during the Thanksgiving Weekend Gaming Marathon. I just need a location, I would prefer to not play at my place, and some help with the food.

Ok I was actually wrong, the Staff was a Staff of Fiery Might not of Light.
I guess that was one of the few things I forgot after trying to memorize 11 encounters.
