New Member Requests and Tips

Welcome to the D&D 4th edition Meetup group! We assume that you are here because you want to play D&D 4e and we cannot wait to have you join -- or start -- a game! Below are some requests and tips for new members.

1. Please answer the questions asked when you first joined. This lets us know a little about you personally and our members as a group. Please update your profile, if your situation changes, so it is relatively current. We are not asking for full name, address, social security number but just a bit about who you are and what you might expect from the Meetup site so we can serve you better.

2. If you are interested in Living Forgotten Realms (LFR) we are currently running at least 2 LFR events per month, typically on the 2nd and 3rd Sundays at Stonebridge Games in Longmont, plus whenever and wherever we can fit more in! Please go to the Polls section to indicate which modules you would like to play. Click on as many as you like but please update your choices after you play a module. This helps our LFR DMs gauge which modules will be best received if they are offered. If you are not sure what LFR is or want to learn more about it check out this link:
http://www.wizards.co...

3. For the upper level LFR modules, level 4+, please only vote for those modules if you already have a character that is ready to play that tier. Almost to that level does not count, sorry.

4. LFR is also played on an ad hoc basis other times throughout the month, most generally around the holidays. These games sometimes, but not always, occur at Stonebridge Games in Longmont. They might also occur at Karliquin's Game Knight in Boulder or at a host home in Longmont, Lafayette, Broomfield or surrounding areas.

5. Dungeon Delves are expected to be run at Stonebridge Games in Longmont every other Friday. These are one-shot non-LFR adventures with pre-generated characters supplied or you can bring you own. Watch the Calendar for details.

6. There are other non-LFR home campaigns that you might see on the Calendar. These are all currently filled but if you want to be placed on a waiting list in case a slot opens up, please do so. If you are looking to start a campaign or group, this is the place to find others who may be interested!

7. Check the forums often. Many times a game will be put together on the fly that was initiated by a simple post from somebody asking "Anybody wanna play. . . ?" So if you wait until an announcement comes that there is an event it is likely that many of the slots will already be filled due to the discussion of it prior.

8. To RSVP to a game, click on the Calendar section, click on the event and the RSVP button. You can also RSVP for up to 2 guests as well. Note that sometimes there is no "Maybe" option; as Master Yoda would say, "Do or do not, there is no try." We take attendance commitments very seriously because a "legal" LFR game has a minimum and maximum number of players without which the game does not count.

9. If you do RSVP for a game, please make every effort to be there. If you are unable to attend, please change your RSVP to "No" as soon as your plans change. This frees up a spot for somebody on the waitlist. If you are unable to attend at the last minute, please note that the organizer's phone number is listed on the event. A phone call is very appreciated because we can often fill your slot at the last minute. Also, if you do not show and there is only a minimum number of people signed up that event may have to be completely canceled.

10. Read the House Rules for the various DMs. Note that some of these House Rules will not apply to LFR games since they are supposed to be "by the book."

11. New events and other announcements are usually broadcast to the mailing list. You have the option to not receive the mailing list but, be advised, you might miss out on something fun because events usually fill very quickly. Please note that traffic to the Mailing List is regulated to minimize spam.

12. Lastly, if you want to DM, please make sure you volunteer to DM a table. There is often interest for multiple tables and, while we do currently have a fair number of DMs to choose from, another DM is always welcome. We also have a secondary site exclusive to LFR DMs to help us plan and organize our LFR offerrings.
