I was wondering what people thought about The Ghost King. I just finished the book and must say I enjoyed seeing some old characters from Salvatore.
Having the setting in the era of the Spellplague was cool, though a bit of a tease since they didn't delve much into specifics.
The ending battle seemed a bit rushed, and the "death" of the two characters was left wide open for an easy reintroduction into the world.
I was impressed with the book as a whole. After writing about Drizzt for over 20 years the storyline is still, surprisingly, interesting. I will admit the characters which used to interest me, such as Drizzt and Cattiie, have been replaced by Jarlaxle.
I don't necessarily like the good alignment path Jarlaxle is headed down. I liked him more when portrayed as a neutral character, though, I guess that is 4th edition which Salvatore has to write in.
After all :" The World Needs Heroes."
