ORIGAMI AND DESIGN
In Promostyl’s Winter
07/08 theme, PURE, ancestral techniques are blended with architectural elements
of pleating to create dresses, decorative details or furniture.
At the last Fair of Milan, Spanish designer, Patricia Urqhiola, presented
a chaisse-longue with pleating of a variable geometry called ANTIBODI, edited
by MOROSO. In the same vein, is the POLICROMI collection by MARCO ZANUSO of folded
and cut-out polished aluminum. The metal is worked to create modern, fun designs
that are both furniture and sculpture.
One can also find the origami pleating of AMALGAMA in the Promostyl trendbook.
The Brazilian designer, Alexander HERCHCOVICH, was the first to incorporate this
technique into ready-to-wear.
