James was finally able to get the meeting room at The Beat Cafe reserved. However, it's not quite a free venue, though - there will be a $5/person charge, but you will get it back in food/drink. So, I checked the Meetup option of requiring a $5 per person charge which can be payable directly to the cafe when you arrive.

And, I'll cover the $10 room fee for next week, so HOPEFULLY at least 4 people (other than myself) will RSVP.

The primary intended purpose for this meeting is to PLAY! I'll be there running some 4E stuff (probably out of the Dungeon Delve book). And, if there are alot of people there, we can split up into separate groups, so somebody could run something else, if they wish to. The meeting area (basement) can easily accommodate over 20 people.

I was going to run some pre-made stuff and I think Drez was going to have something to do as well. If enough people show, we can certainly do 2-3 different things.

Hey all, Id love to come but have never played 4th edition. I have played 2nd and 3.5. Is there going to be one large game or 2-3 smaller games? Thanks

Since it's being left to me to decide the playing level, we'll start out at 2nd. Anyone may create a PC prior to Wednesday using the standard point buy system in the Player's Handbook. As for magic items, pick up to 5 levels worth of items with any one item not being higher than 2nd level (i.e. 2x2nd lv items and one 1st). And, up to 100 gold in non-magic items. I will also bring a couple of laptops with the Character Builder on them - I'm just going to have to scrounge up a printer...

Greg, the Dungeon Delve book is a great idea. I have the book but have not played any of it yet so no spoilers for me. I also have all of the dungeon tiles sets that can be used for the delves to match their maps exactly. I'll try to bring those for ya to use, and some minis too. I would also suggest low level chars for those that have yet to play 4e. Level 1 seems obvious to start, but level 2 at least let's folks get a couple nice magic items to start.

I am fine with whatever level the DM wants to run.

If you are letting them make their own, I recommend starting at level 1 - makes things much easier. If anyone wants to try a higher level, I recommend having the DM's make some premades for a higher tier (paragon or Epic). Keep on the shadowfell is a really good intro adventure to run. So is the one at the back of the DMG. I'll also try and write up a primarily "social" quest (to link 1-2 combats with 3-4 non-combat encounters). We'll see how it goes.

Frank Williams: >I RSVPed as a maybe. What level character should I bring if I come? Good question! Since you were the first to bring it up, what level do you want?

David Spinney: ? Would have been nice if the owner had mentioned a cover charge up front...? Agreed. As a business owner, however, I can't fault him for that, but yeah, it would have been nice to know when we were there last week. But, he probably didn't think about it himself either. So, I'm just thinking this meetup is a 'one-time-thing' for the moment.

    •  We had so many people that we had to split into two tables - it was great.
    •  The first East Side meetup (at Beat Cafe) was a big success. After initially checking out the place with Ben, Greg, and a few other members, I was looking forward to attending this actual meetup. We had two 4e games going, both very lively and successful. One of the groups decided to play every week there (Beat Cafe), scheduling the room to handle that, and the other group chose to go with a little less vigorous schedule (IIRC) and try a 3.5 game instead. I, unfortunately, cannot commit to the weekly play schedule, so I bowed out for the time being. I do play weekly as it is, and right now that's enough of a weekly scheduled commitment for me ATM. If that changes I will be looking to join the group, if room allows. However, I will try to attend monthly, to keep up with the members of the meetup and see how things are going with their games/parties. It was suggested that a possible one-shot type of fill-in play might work on those occasions. Great group of DnDers!

Very nice to meet some people and get a game going. A fun experience and I would do again.
