I started with the Moldvay Basic D&D box in 1983, but drifted away from the game when 3E took over. I DM an almost-weekly First Edition AD&D game with players I met through Meetup, but sometimes play other editions.
I'm a swashbuckler at heart. I like roleplaying (but not talkiness) and action (but not hack-n-slash). My ideal game has the tone of an Indiana Jones movie -- lots of action, but the characters have a motivation more developed than 'we want gold!
"Yes, I made Gary Gygax pose for a photo with me and my Dungeon Masters Guide. This seemed like a perfectly rational action at the time."
It's working for me. I've found a good group of players through Meetup!

"Hi Michael! I was so excited to see you in this meet up group! I just moved to Trenton from Big Rapids and have been missing my D&D time. I have been looking for a group to play with. 2E, 3 & 3.5, I have the 4E books, but haven't played it yet. I have DM'd in the past but would prefer to play and have a great time. I would love to get together and see if we can get a game together. Thanks!"

"It's at the same intersection that Riders was, but in the strip mall on the opoosite (northeast) corner. The owner, Chuck, used to work at Riders...."

"I'm now signed up for the morning C&C session at U-Con. So if my job doesn't mess up my schedule that week, I finally get to use the Players Handbook that girl in the chainmail bikini made me buy 2 years ago!"

"I e-mailed you about my Saturday afternoon 1E game, and you said Saturdays were bad for you. (It happens.) If your Saturdays free up and you're still looking for a game, though, feel free to send me a message."
"I run a First Edition AD&D game most Saturday afternoons. (We're averaging about 2.5 games/month right now). You should come to the Saturday morning meetup -- I'll be there, and maybe some of my players, too. We can talk details there."
"Hey, I got there at 10:55am and had a black, white, and red sign that said "Meetup." How much more visible do I have to be? You got there well after 11:30am. Paul and I were the only ones there at 11:42, as commemorated on Twitter...."
