You displease me greatly Eric, but oh well. No biggie.

Also, welcome Paul. If you require any assistance let us know, or if you just wanna spitball some ideas around.

And Frank, I meant congrats on the baby, you jerk, lol.

Welcome Paul,

As with Anthony (Deox) I think about this crap way too much and as such am happy to help get you up to speed any way I can.

See you all next week.

How about the rest of us get together and play a board game or something since Eric abandoned us. I have Hero Quest and Heroscape (I know little Dave plays Heroscape too). Other ideas would be the Axis & Allies board game (I haven't played that one in years), or any game someone wants to play.

Just throwing it out there. Let me know what you guys think.

Thanks :) I'm still trying to decide what type of char I want to run lol. Think I might run a rouge. Looking for something not real complicated atm since I haven't played for a while. So don't think I'll run a magic user like I was thinking after look at the rules again haha.

Frank - I think some board game action might be a pretty cool idea. I would be down for it, assuming it's not going to be running too late. Classes start this week, lol.

Paul - if you want any suggestions for rogue action (or rouges, since rouges are overpowdered. HAHA! I make myself laugh.) just ask. I don't know what level and point buy you're gonna start out with. The main thing is make sure you're gonna rock that precision damage.

A Thief would be awsome, and free my char up to take less skills in the future.

As a alternate, the Ninja from Com War is often overlooked but really can be a solid class.

*Edit* No can do for me on the game night, the wife and I are going out since the game got called.

Complete Adventurer, but yea. Ninjas really aren't terrible. They actually become pretty potent when you start multi-classing. Swashbuckler / Ninja / Rogue is usually a pretty standard jump off point, but is easily altered depending on the route you want to go. The main thing is, stacking precision damage with sneak attack and TWF. Make those attacks really hurt.

There are 2 main feats you should look at if going the "rouge type" route:

Craven (Champions of Ruin - Faerun Campaign Setting) : Pre-req - Sneak attack class feature and cannot be immune to fear. Bonus - You take a -2 penalty on saving throws against fear. However, when making a sneak attack, you deal 1 point of additional damage per character level.

Daring Outlaw (Complete Scoundrel) : Pre-req - Grace +1, Sneak Attack +2d6. Bonus - Your rogue and swashbuckler levels stack for the purpose of determining your competence bonus on Reflex saves from the grace class feature and the swashbuckler's dodge bonus to AC. Your rogue and swashbuckler levels also stack for the purpose of determining your sneak attack bonus damage (7th level rogue /4th swashbuckler would deal sneak attack damage as an 11th level rogue).

Going off my previous post, I think one of the typical cookie cutter beginning builds is something like:

Swashbuckler 3 / Rogue 3 / Ninja 3 (Assume 2 of the feats you choose are Craven and Daring Outlaw)

Sneak Attack +5d6 +9 (Craven + Daring Outlaw)
Grace +1
Dodge Bonus +1
Ghost Step
Poison Use
Weapon Finesse
Insightful Strike

With only spending 2 feats at the start, you're already hitting flanked targets for weapon + 5d6 + 9 + X (where X is your intelligence mod from Insightful Strike). Also, you're gaining Weapon Finesse for free from Swashbuckler, you'll have a solid base attack, and you can use Strength as a dump stat now, allowing your total attack bonus to be very very good.

Yeah, but what does that character look like at level 3? Your looking at a goal as the beginning point. Everybody looks powerful at 9th level.

I assume Eric will be bringing him in at level 2 or 3 with a 30 point build. And remember that Paul doesn't have all the books.
