About The Ventura County Dungeons & Dragons Meetup Group

Our meetup group has one prime function: to help D&D players find each other. If you live in Ventura County, or are willing to drive here, this is where you will find fellow gamers. 1st, 2nd, 3.5, whatever other number they come up with, we want you to find people who share your love of the game.

Our meetings will be a chance to sound each other out, to see if someone could fit in a game that's already running, or to decide if a DM sounds like someone you'd want to game with. It will also be a chance to sit around and just share the absolute fun of remembering old adventures, players and characters.

Maybe you don't have time to game regularly, but you miss the camaraderie of RPG'rs. Here's a chance to talk dice, dragons, destruction (and the occasional damsel), without having to commit to every Saturday. An hour or so every few weeks, without investing in new books, dice, carrying bag and character sheets wouldn't upset the natural order of things. Or the spouse.

Many of us have houses, kids, chores and life in general and can't play. Just because you don't throw the old 20-sided any more, doesn't mean you're not a player. Oh, no. Like an alcoholic is still an alcoholic even if they haven't had a drink in 30 years- you are a gamer whether you sit around the kitchen table every other Saturday or just have a secret set of dice hidden in the closet or your toolbox in the garage.

Who knows, maybe you'll be tempted to take up gaming again.

And if you've never played D&D, what better way to find out if you'd like to try it than meeting in a safe, public area? You'll see that there are many types of games being played and many types of DM's (Dungeon Masters, or "The One Who Must Be Obeyed") running them. If enough new gamers show up, maybe we can set up mini-games as an introduction? Something to be considered for the future.
