Hello!
There seems to be interest in a 4th edition game with a lack of people willing to run it, so I’m starting up a 4th edition campaign. The best time for me is every other Saturday from 12pm-7/8pm, although I may be open to Sundays as well. I have been a player for 20 years and a DM on/off for 6 years. I have DMed D&D 3.5, 4th edition (very little), Castles & Crusades, and Shadowrun 3rd edition. I consider myself an average but fair DM.

The good news is that I will be using 95% core rules, so if you have the books then you know the rules. Beginners to expert players are welcome.

Style: 50% story/adventure, 50% hack and slash
Rulebooks allowed: ONLY the Player’s Handbook 1 and 2. Material from other materials is on a case by case basis. I don’t have unlimited time to read all the books and I like to keep things fair between players.
Setting: I run a custom standard medieval fantasy setting as I don’t feel like researching everything about Forgotten Realms or Eberron. In general, the world is an open world, meaning I try to not railroad you as you are capable of making your own decisions.
Location: Camarillo, every other Saturday, noon to 8pm. The home is non-smoking with no cats. Smoking outside is acceptable as long as you dispose of the litter correctly and don’t interrupt the game constantly. I’m also open to playing at other people’s houses as long as they don’t have cats, as I am highly allergic.
D&D Insider: I’m not paying for it so I don’t expect you to either.
What I expect from you: mostly to have fun but on a more serious note: bi-weekly commitment (we all have an outside life but you should show up more often than not), hygiene, maturity, over 20 years old, and respect for other players. No cheaters (yes I’ve actually had to kick someone out for this). This may seem absurd to have to put this here but you would be surprised who shows up at your door.

Information for those already familiar with D&D: Rule lawyers should be aware that although I don’t fudge dice (there is no reward without risk), I also don’t waste time trying to research ambiguous rules during combat (those discussions can take place in email or after the session, as no one wants to wait 10 minutes in the middle of combat to see what stacks with what). Powergamers should be aware that I try to keep things fair between players (your character shouldn’t be so powerful that it makes other characters useless) and allow people to play the style they want to play, even if it means a pacifist cleric or a barbarian who uses a club. If we have any beginners in the group expert players will be expected to help them, not overshadow them.

Contact: post here or contact nithendil at gmail dot com. Please put D&D in the subject line.

We will start as soon as we get at least 4 players.

Excellent, I have some questions, you can email me (nithendil at gmail dot com) the answers or post here. I have another player who contacted me so we only need 2-3 more and I don't think that will be much of a problem.

1) Age?
2) Experience? (have you had any tabletop roleplaying experience? any with D&D 4th Edition?)
3) Anything I should know (you hate puzzles, love traps, etc)?

I'll have a rudimentary campaign handout by this Friday (I have to convert it from D&D 3.5).

Also if anyone has any questions feel free to email me.

I've been swamped so the handout won't be available until Monday. All races and classes from the Player's Handbook I and II except for Devas (due to a conflict with the setting) will be allowed.

Hello
So I was wondering if. My wife and I could join your game I have been playing for a few years and have played only 3rd edition a little and 3.5 but I really want to play 4th. I have some books but they are on my computer. I am 22 years old and she is 21. She has not played ever but I'm working on bringing her upp to speed. The only problem is, is that I will be gone until the 21 of november. I am in the navy and I travel some for a week or two at a time. If this is a conflict that's fine but I usually know before I go and how long I will be gone. I like combat in the games alot but I would love to try these skill challenges that 4th edition has. I have a few characters made already for me and her but e can make new ones if need be. Please let me know if there is still room and if you need more information

Hello!
I've hit a bit of a rough patch trying to find a good starting date as I've been swamped and we have the holidays. The best day for gaming for me is Saturday but unfortunately I have family issues this Saturday, and the following week is Thanksgiving (I'm available but I'm sure other people will be going out of town).

So what I will try to do is see if I can get enough people for this Sunday, and if not then the next free days I have are December 6th and 12th.

No problem most of the people I have so far are unfamiliar with 4th edition, so new players are welcome! Just send me an email if you haven't already.
