Introduction

I am married to a man who's played since the 80's. I'm more of an enabler than a player. We're hoping to find good-natured, good-humored, creative and dependable players. House rules based mostly on 1st, 2nd ed with a smidge of 3rd. Gygax would smile

What are you hoping to find here? New friends? New players? To join a new group? To learn how to play? Meet others who still use their imagination?

I hope to help players meet, so we keep the great game of D&D alive. And I'm sure there's a lot of old-timers out there, hoping to find 1st ed players as well as others who want to learn to play D&D.

Favorite sci-fi/fantasy movie/TV show/book? Favorite sci'fi/fantasy character?

Too many to decide. ST, ST:NG, Firefly, Farscape, Wizards & Warriors (someone put that on DVD!!!!), 5th Element, Princess Bride, Galaxy Quest. Books: Ray Bradbury, Connie Willis, Rod Serling. And I love Knights of the Dinner Table and Harry Potter!

Do you DM? If so, do you write your own adventures or use modules? Do you follow the rules as written, or do you "go with the flow"?

I don't DM and don't play very often, either. I live vicariously through hubby, who gets cranky if he goes two weeks without a game.

Do you have a favorite setting for adventures (pirates, dungeons, space ships, chicken coops, haunted houses)? How long have you been playing? What edition do you prefer? Do you prefer hack 'n slash? Intricate stories? Riddles? Mysteries? Quests?

I love archaeological settings. Especially if we have to figure out riddles and secret codes. Ancient mysteries are always fun to solve. In fights, I generally hide and have panic attacks.

Weirdest character name you've run across (or used)? Weirdest choice for a familiar?

Way back when, I played with a person who had a wombat as a familiar. Not very useful, really. More like lap rug and conversation starter. It slept a lot.

Looking for a new organizer for the D&D group

"The Facebook page is a great option and I will send an email out to all members with the llink. I also feel strongly that most people will first look in Meetup and this is a resource and connection we shouldn't let go...."
