Experienced DM/player looking to launch a new campaign in NW Austin/RR/Jville. Would also consider joining an existing campaign as a player or as an alternating DM. I've had to adjust my gaming schedule so I am looking at my best available times - Sunday afternoon or Sunday evening. The game will run abou 4-6 hours.

My DM philosophy/campaign ideas:

Players first - no DM favorites, no DMs's old PCs running the show, meta-arc decided by PC actions up to 5th-7th level (instead of determined ahead of time, based on DM wish lists).

Combat should be fast, efficient, memorable and tricky. Expect fights on steep grades, narrow catwalks, taverns on fire, etc. If you have to remember fights by who got a critical, things could be better.

Magic-rich world. Most people are familiar with magic and most magic-users are low level. PCs are standouts at every level of the game.

Evil is ascendant and everywhere. But the world probably isn't going to be destroyed if the PCs take a day off.

The Game

The campaign will center around a major city with a fair mix of heroic combat, roleplaying and politics. PCs will be able to excel in whatever they want socially, so a fighter can become a successful merchant-prince if that's what she wants. You won't be hemmed in by your class.

It won't be an urban campaign per se, it's just that's where the early jobs, early patrons, early enemies, etc. will come from.

I'll be testing Pathfinder, so all classes recieve an upgrade from base 3.5. PF got rid of a lot of dead levels and made it easier to pick skills outside of your class skills, which means more action in non-combat situations. In addition to the PF rules, I will allow limited use of action points and Wizards d20 splat material on a case-by-case basis. Advantage players.

I'm undecided on the actual campaign setting. I'm weighing the options between Oerth, Faerun and the Pathfinder home world.

All players are welcome. We can do the initial meet up at my house in NW Austin if'n ya'll want.

If you might be interested, please drop me a line.

Thanks!

I'll have to look up the pathfinder rules since I only know 3.5 but I am definetely interested since Sunday is my exact day off, so it'd be a perfect fit into my busy schedule!

I might be interested in playing 3.5 again. I've got a few of the books and played with a 3.5 group for a couple years. Haven't played for a year now. My preference would be sunday afternoon for 4 hours. I live in NW Austin near 360 and spicewood springs.

We'll have an informal meet up at my house either this Sunday or next. If people can make this Sunday, then it's this one. If not, then the next.

Emails are out for those that replied to my Yahoo address. If you are still interested but have not contacted me yet, I still have room for 2-3 players - large groups of PCs don't scare me.

Thanks!
