Just wanted to say thanks to all who participated in my game Saturday. It was pretty fun DMing one of my newer dungeons. I plan to finish with the same place next time, for those who want to come along. We had a couple close calls but no one died! Poor rogue almost fell to his doom though heh, but he lucked out and landed in a harpy nest! ...not much of an improvement. I was a bit too busy to notice how the other game was going -hopefully everyone faired better than we did last time.

I have yet to name my campaign, but for now, it's taking place in the large desert of Forgotten Realms world. Basically, there's a tyrannical Lawful Evil army called the Blackthorn Empire who arrested each player for whatever reason. The players were imprisoned and being transported to some mining camps when the caravan was attacked, setting them free.

The party found themselves out in the middle of a desert with minimal supplies and rations. Using survival skills, they found there way to a misty valley protected by a group of Earth Elementals. This valley is where an ancient arcane city had fallen into the earth due to an earthquake, so they ventured inside for shelter.

The party made it through the first leg of the dungeon, crossing an almost floorless entrance room (drops 120Ft or more) full of gargoyles and harpies. They also spotted a few other double doors, one on a platform, far out of reach across the large room, and the other, 120Ft below. They discovered reachable doubledoors that lead up a large, spiraling trapped tower structure. They fought through constant falling rocks, nasty glyphs, and elemental wizards to reach a large gnomish telescope/observatory.

That's where we left off. Hope to see you all next time and I hope everyone had a good time in both groups. If we can get Kelli to join our meetup again, we'll have a total of 4 DMs so we can rotate and/or form more, smaller groups so each of us can take turns playing from time to time.

Hey Dave,

Thanks for running the game, I certainly had a good time. Unfortunately, you'll have to be without Gregor's mighty axe next month--I have to head to Nashville for my nephew's birthday.

Dave,

Thanks for the DMing and the adventure. Regrettably, the damn hospital has me scheduled every weekend except one and it wasn't the right weekend. So, Lark is out for the next month meet-up unless we can do something on a Friday. If not I understand. Any idea of the XP for the last meeting so that I don't get to far behind the group.

Thanks
Shawn

Thanks all! I had a lot of fun DMing -time sure seems to fly! I can play the next scheduled event but I'm afraid I can't schedule anything extra, at least at this time. I'm having trouble finding even temporary employment after my contract ended so everything is kinda up in the air. However, I will be able to DM on our next scheduled event unless something drastic happens. Anyway, sorry some of you won't be able to make it. We'll work your character in and out of the story though :)

As for XP, I just computed everything on the trusty ol' Excel spreadsheet. Using the law of averages (for number of party members because some left and some others arrived), based on the monsters you killed, the puzzles and traps you defeated, and the telescope and ruins you discovered...all bonuses to miscellaneous stuff, each of you got a total of 4000XP for the last game. If I remember correctly, at lvl 6, you have 15k, so another 4k puts you at just 2k shy of the 21k needed for lvl 7. Not bad guys n gals! I'll keep an eye on XP next game since it's likely some of you may level in the middle of the game. Perhaps at the midway point we can take a break and level up...if you survive that is :) bwhahahaa!

On another note: I'm probably going to stick with mostly Hack'n'Slash with only a bit of story; it will suit our purposes better for now since we have a lot of comers and goers and a few new players. But, the more you develop your character and backstory, the more I can sew it into the story so have at it.

Dave,

I think I managed to get my schedule changed to an earlier shift on the 10th. I don't get off until 5:00 PM though. Is still ok if Lark (the Fleet-footed Rogue) shows up about an hour late?

That will be fine - I'll just say your character fell back onto some ledge and passed out; when you show up, it'll be about the time he wakes up heh.
