I threatened, I hinted, I mused and I puzzled.

It seems I will actually make good on all those half-promises and bring something to run at the meet-up. It will be a short adventure, possibly up to an hour and a half. I am not Shakespeare, nor Gygax, so I dont promise anything special. What I do promise is something that will allow those game starved dorks among us to roll a few dice.

I am writing the adventure for level 3 characters. I know some people hate to start at higher levels, but the first few levels are always akward and hard to survive and not particularly suited to throwing a bunch of random player characters into an adventure.

This is not compulsory, so if you are trying to get your own thing going, feel free to do so. This is just a new dimension to our monthly meetup that I am experimenting with.

OK, ground rules.

For my own sanity, I will not be overseeing dice rolls and reading through a hundred sourcebooks. Also, as a sense of fairplay, I am limiting the available sources. Races, classes, skills, feats, spells, deities and equipment must be drawn from the PHB and DMG. I will not accept anything from a source outside of those books for this test run, so please do not ask.

Stats will be thus: 18, 16, 15, 12, 10, 8 (assign as desired)

Starting gold will be 2,500 gp. (equipment drawn from available sources)

I will check this thread nightly and attempt to answer any questions about the event. I will tell you this much: it will not be drawn from any printed setting.

I will also bring a few pre-made characters for those new to the system, so have no fear.

And a big extra: I can run this for up to 6 players. Some months that might be eveyone at the meetup. Other times not so much. Anyone willing to miss out of playing is invited to run a seperate group. I will bring a few extra copies of my notes, maps and whatever else. This could also be good for anyone looking to get into dming but not sure how to go about it.

Kackler made me and AO, and this is what he gets for it.

Hey Flip,

I have never seen a game that is 1 1/2 hours. Seriously, I'm not kidding. I'm changed my attendance to 'no' from 'maybe' now I'm changing it back to 'maybe' because of this thread. I rather watch and not play.

It will be a single short adventure. If I can keep the group moving it will likely hit closer to 2 hours. Combat is what usually sidelines the game but I have a plan for that as well.

I encourage people to spectate, but time constraints will force me to be a bit stern on sideline chatter. Not that I dont want everyone to have tons of fun, but I would like to see if it is possible to get through a short adventure in two hours or less.

Kool... I'll try to be there. It's kinda like a heartbreaker.

I *might* be picking up some free old gaming stuff from a gaming friend on Friday. Unfortunately his sons doesn't have the interest in gaming like he did. He has 9 boxes of old AD&D Stuff, Rolemaster, old WHFB & WH40k. He said that he has a few other Gems. I hope you understand, nothing against you. :D

You didnt miss anything. Only three people other than myself showed to the meetup. I have basically kept the adventure in my notebook for later use. I'll probably try again at the June Meetup.
