Ok, for all of you out there who enjoyed the movie, its time to click this page out. This page is not for you, and will more than likely make you sad and cry. The author of this movie *I cant even bring myself to say his name* is awful; there are many other things I can say, but awful sums it up quick and easy. And whats worse, the movie had four writers to fix the problems with the book, and still it SUCKED. The dragon was lame, and almost like a bit dog. It evoked nothing that every made me feel like it was a dragon, the end-all-be-all of magical creatures or beings. OH yeah, and it grew into teenage form in about a min of flying. WHAT???? I laughed so hard watching that. And the movie stole so many direct scenes from STAR WARS *the setting sun, sitting, watching it.* It wasnt that other movies havent done that, but they atleast did it a bit different, so as to pay homage to S.W, instead, this movie almost cuts that clip right into it and passes it off as its own.
When the main character, *Aragon* oh no, Eragon, first gets on the dragon...she tells him that it will take him years, to learn to stand on her, fight on her, and so on. But, but the end of the movie, hes already fighting, and moving, hell...he even gets pitched from her tail into the enemy for the killing BLOW. OHHHHHHHHHHHH, and for all of your hardcore D&D wizards out there, this evil wizard...Durz...is LAME..and should be killed just for being so retarded, yes I called him retarded. He strain to pull axs off the wall, but in the next great battle, this Durz is throwing fireballs and summoning evil monsters with ease.....WHATTTTT???? He also almost does the james bond enemy speech, where, in real life, the bad guy just puts the gun to the good guys head and pulls the trigger. But back to the hero. Who, when he first learns about magic picks it up as if hes known it his entire life. These powerful elven words are mastered in hours, well, that has to be since the entire book seems to come and go over a weekend, but its really a few days. I know I learn to summon powerful world altering spells and highly skilled sword play while riding across country. Yea, and the part where the hero wishes to charge off and go the BAD PLACE, alone, unskilled, because He SAYS SO, yea, thats the place where Brom *Jeromy irons* should have said "well, guess its time to get a new dragon rider, this ones a FOOL* and the hero should never ever ever be seen again. Everyone needs to read all the bad reviews about this film before answering this question. I dont have the time or energy to say everything wrong and funny about this film. your thoughts. |

It's simple. Everybody always says that the book is better than the movie.
How can the movie be any good when the book is a boring piece of hack-work that reads like it was written by a 17 year old with no literary experience or knowledge of any sort? Oh, wait a second..... |

I agree.....
No real new or creative thought. It's all been done before. The main character isn't believable. Jeremy Irons was the only saving grace. The Chic as well wasn't bad. When are directors gonna get it that to make the movie interesting and semi-believable just take a look at Conan (the first one) and of course LOTR. One movie that might be overlooked but I thought for its time period was a good piece of work was Dragonslayer back in the 80's. This movie felt like a rip off of Dragonheart, LOTRs, and the DnD movies. It was OK but nothing like I'd hope it would have been. I rate it about a C. My wife gave it a low B |

This movie was a big disappointment. Dragon grows up in a few day WHAT! Eragon should have been dead in the first daring mission. The Orc's where pathetic. They could at least put lame Holloween masks on them, that would have at least been comical. And the last battle seen was bad. The best part of the movie was when we got to see the bad ass real dragon at the end.
My 2 cents.... |

Personally, I liked both books in the series so far. Yes yes yes, it has all been done before. Very few things have not been done too many times, it just depends on how the author can portray it. And for a 17 year hack, he did a pretty good job.
Now the movie on the other hand, I haven't been this ticked off about a movie from a book since Battlefield Earth. And that's impressive considering how mad I was about that one. I had to get drunk out of my mind to even watch that one past the first few minutes, and after scanning through just a few scenes of Eragon? I'm not even going to attempt to watch this one. Not even 5 minutes of the movie and all I could think of was hunting down the entire bloodline of the author, producer, director, and script writer and throwing them down a deep dark hole. |

The older I get the more disappointed in movies I become. This one and many many more. I used to go to movies all the time. Now I am only going to a couple movies a year. Last year of the 2 I saw I only liked 1.
The price of movies keeps going up and the quality goes down. Stay home and read a book is my advice. |

I'm with Eric about books; compared to movies.
especially when you compare the original books to the movies; the books are ALWAYS better, and you people who have read the books and seen the movie will now what i'm talking about (the only exception to this is the bourn series, which was very confusing, and started getting stupid when it got to the third book) you guys shouldn't make funof the book, becuase it was pretty good, though there were a few problems with it. however, just think about how old the guy is who wrote it. Even if it is definetly not destined to be 'one of the classics', for his age he put together a pretty good story. I mean, he just needs some more experience, thats all. however Adam Thaxton's comment was still funny, even though he didn't think about what I have just mentioned before hand.Even if you hated the book none the less, I'm pretty sure no matter how bad you say it is, the movie is worse. could someone post a link to a website that has reveiws for this movie, like the first guy said? I don't know where to look. |
